Journal: Spring

 from "TheLittleSilverFox Tales"
a new series of short stories by Laura Lopez

Spring is coming! Spring is coming! Too soon to say? Not in semi tropical type climes like the one I live in !

My darling Foxie is filled with happiness as she sits in the brown grass, sunning herself in the warm sun. She sniffs the warmer air and licks her little lips as she dreams lazily of the tall green grasses and wildflowers to come.

Spring is in the air here and brighter, lighter, more playful designs for new pieces present themselves in mind’s eye as I dust and vacuum, clean out closets, and clear up work spaces. This winter I’ve filled two notebooks with drawings and plans of things to come and placed a large order with my best supplier today!

I'm glad winter is finally, truly on its way out. It has been a strange, cold and sad winter with too many losses. The Little Silver Fox and I will be happy to see it gone.  Soon there will be peace in our quiet little woodland home. That big bad bully of a wolf that's been worrying us no end who wrought so much damage in our and our little friends lives in years past will finally be gone from here permanently come May. The Woodsman has promised to trap him then. He will move him to a different locale where he won't be able to harm anyone any longer. The pack of feral dogs who moved down into Valley Close when food was so scarce this winter will soon be gone too.  The Farmers Association has gotten up a trapping posse and will see to them as well! Good riddance to bad Rubbish we all say!! Now, don’t get me wrong. I love all creatures great and small – even those odd smelly humans, however, when one or some do damage and haven’t a care for other they must be made to stop and put where they can’t harm others.

On a happier springy note, last week a small traveling Carnival came to town. Miss Foxie and I went and saw 17 amazingly odd clowns doing the funniest tricks I’ve ever seen. And there was the most amazing strong man with a great big mustache who balanced his juggling wife and two acrobat children on his head while holding a 2 thousand pound barbells in his huge hands while pulling an elephant in a cart by a rope in his bare teeth! Imagine his dental bills! Oh, and there was the most beautiful tiny panther, no bigger than my paw who stood on his hind legs and danced while balancing a gold heart on his forepaws. Everyone stood up and cheered for him. Clearly he was the favorite of the whole show. What a beautiful animal he was, so sleek, so clever, so handsome. Foxie and I fell in love with him and wished we could take him home to Rose Cottage. I did take lots of pictures. Hopefully, they will turn out well and I can share them with you after the spring cleaning is done.

Be Well,
LEL.

Happy Valentine's Day!

DOUBLE HEART WITH KEY

Well, I did manage to make quite a few pieces to sell for for Valentine's Day, unfortunately I only had time to list a couple on LSF, a commission for LaloBean came in and my niece's wedding preparations took precedence.  Oh well... and so it goes.  It's alll gooood! I know a little better how to relax while still being vigilant no - odd but possible.

ROSARY HEART

**ORDER EARLY FOR MOTHER'S DAY**

Rosary Heart is a poem and story of Love in itself. ..

I made this heart in layers, first placing a delicate layer of 100% gold leaf over a polymer clay heart in such a way as to make it look slightly distressed and crackled. denoting time and wear. Next I painted a very fine live Victorian fluer de lis style vine - making sure to connect it on the back and front of the heart - symbolizing constancy and continuity. By pairing this beautiful heart with a vintage 1960s green glass rosary and a small golden key - the story wraps up on a note of sacred hope, faith and understanding how to keep real Love alive.

Measurements:
Pendant 2"x2" (5.1cm x 5.1cm)
Rosary: Adjustable from 20" to smaller lengths

Makes a great gift for anyone to whom you wish to express how sacred their love is to you. An especially significant piece to give. The story of how the piece came to be made and what it signifies, printed on a small card will accompany it in a lovely gift box.

ON HIATUS UNTIL... ??

A couple of weeks before Christmas I came down with a super bug, followed by a stomach virus so I'm way behind on getting the stores ready for Valentine's Day - one of my favorite days of the year! To catch up, I am devoting all of my creative attention to my other store on Etsy: LaloBean... art for the Heart!  I hope to get back to making new jewelry pieces some time after February or March.

If you would like to be notified when more jewelry is posted please send me an email.

Peace,

Poor Little Fox

Poor little Fox
Waiting patiently in the thicket for my return.
So busy, so busy,
To visit my little woodland friend,
I yearn.
Papers I push,
Empires I build,
Silly me.
When will I ever learn?
