...and in the end

"And in the end
The love you take
Is equal to the love you make."

"Well, there you have it; the leaves are turning color. Ach! Where did the time go? Silly question... I know full well where it went. The weather turned unbearably hot and we were all forced to spend a lot of time indoors in the air conditioning. What a crushing bore! And getting that big bad wolf out of the area was no easy task! The woodsman had a very hard time of it. He didn't want to kill the old rascal and that made the job very hard indeed. Every time he caught the wolf and moved him to a new location far away, the bad wolf made his way back to the neighborhood for some strange reason. I guess, although he made such a mess things with us and even though he had no family or friends here, he still thinks of the neighborhood as home. But what would make any creature so destructive toward his own home and community as well as his own nest? It is a mystery to me that is for certain.

In any case, with the heat and the wolf situation, this past spring and summer weren't exactly roses, roses!  My sciatica started acting up something awful. From March to this day I could barely walk, sit, or lie down for more than 10 minutes at a time. Then, to make matters worse, when the weather started to heat up I became quite ill from the heat. Mrs. Bear had to send her oldest daughter, Marina, to help out around the place.

I'm feeling much better now and am glad that all that is mostly behind me now. I'm moving about better and the cooler weather is here. Of course it's not like up North, but still, it is cooler and will continue to get colder as we move toward Winter.

On a much more positive note, several newlings were born in the neighborhood this past Spring and Summer. My own darling Foxy gave birth to two new kits. LOL... yes they are RED! Don't ask! I never do. ;-x Ms. Foxy's business is her own. I'm just so happy to have babies around the place. They are such a delight. The little ball of fur on the right is Thistle and the one on the left is Whistle. Each so named because: he whistles while he eats and she sticks to him like the milk thistles on the hill stick to their fur.

Yesterday, Mrs. Deer, told me that she just heard from Grandie Badger that the bad wolf found a new lair close to the neighborhood last month and has been seen skulking around his old haunts. She said some of the youngsters reported spotting him and having to hide a few times. Naturally the kits don't understand why they can't go out on their own now that they are old enough and the weather is cooler. We’re having a hard time keeping them occupied and close to home. Because everyone they know and love is good and decent, it is difficult to explain what  “bad” is and why anyone or anything that bad is to be feared and avoided at all costs.  Oh dear and bother, more work for the woodsman I'm afraid. He is very busy with his job of chopping down and collecting wood for everyone for the winter, but he is on the lookout for the bad wolf. He and the other residents of our little community have been discussing whether he should put this bad wolf down this time. It looks like he will have to if the wolf hurts anyone else.

Oops, look at the time! It's lunchtime for the kits... I have to go."

to be continued... LEL.
